Add Google reCAPTCHA to forms

This article is for a future version of Mailchimp for WordPress, so this isn't yet available in the current version of the plugin. We will release an update for this soon.

Google reCAPTCHA protects you against spam and other types of automated abuse. Mailchimp for WordPress comes with a built-in integration that allows you to use Google reCAPTCHA in your sign-up forms. This article explains how to set this up.

Register for Google reCAPTCHA

First, go to the Google reCAPTCHA admin console and register a new site using the following settings:

  • Label: Any name that describes your website for you
  • reCAPTCHA type: reCAPTCHA v3
  • Domains: The domain names on which you are showing sign-up forms. For example mc4wp.com.

Complete the rest of the form and take note of the keys that should now be presented to you.

Enter your reCAPTCHA keys in the form settings

Head back over to your WordPress Admin panel and go to the Mailchimp for WordPress form settings. Open up the "Settings" tab and scroll down to find the following settings:.

Enter your reCAPTCHA keys in the setting fields and save your form.

That's it! Your form is now better protected against spam sign-ups by using Google's reCAPTCHA service.
